EP 82: Lessons I've Learned From My Injuries

Lesson 1

The body has an innate ability to heal itself if given the right support. In the form of sleep, movement and food. Your body needs more energy reserves to heal.

Lesson 2

Scar tissue has to be broken up and mobilized even years after an injury or surgery. Scar tissue can affect function, mobility and possibly biochemistry. Methods like cupping, skin rolling and mobility moves are a good start.

Lesson 3

There’s always potential to gain better function and strength post injury. We just have to develop the skills to know what to do. Personal trainers, physical therapists and chiropractors are great people to connect with for learning these skills.

Lesson 4

It’s important to stay positive and see the light at the end of the tunnel as you are healing. Realize that the state you are in is temporary. Focus on the smaller successes instead of the overall fix.

Lesson 5

Even high level athletes go through physical discomfort, pain and trauma and they continue to train and perform despite these setbacks. Moving and improving may lead you to some physical discomfort at times, but it’s part of the process.

Lesson 6

What spiritual lesson are you learning from your injury. Do you need to feel cared for and loved? Do you need to trust that you’ll be taken care of in life?
